How it works
Your step-by-step guide to matched betting
📌 Matched betting is legal in the UK. It uses free bet promotions from bookmakers and an exchange lay bet to lock in profit, regardless of the result. No gambling required.
The three-step process
Three steps from free bet offer to locked-in cash profit.
1
Scanner finds the opportunity
We compare back odds at every major UK bookmaker against lay odds on Betfair and Smarkets. Each opportunity shows its efficiency score, free bet profit, and qualifying loss - calculated automatically from live data.
2
Calculator locks in profit
Enter your free bet amount. The calculator gives you the exact lay stake to place on the exchange. Whatever the result, you profit on both outcomes - the match result no longer matters.
3
Find free bets by bookie
Got a free bet with Bet365, Sky Bet, or Paddy Power? Select your bookie in the By Bookie tab to instantly see the best opportunity for that specific offer - odds, lay stake, and expected profit all pre-calculated.

FavourIQ Guide & FAQ
📘 What is FavourIQ?
FavourIQ is an odds analysis and market intelligence platform. It helps users compare bookmaker prices, analyse exchange odds, explore matched betting strategies, and understand live market movement.
🎁 How to place a qualifying bet
Step 1 - place a real-money bet to unlock the free bet offer
A qualifying bet is a real-money back bet placed at a bookmaker to trigger their free bet offer. You cover it with a lay bet on an exchange to reduce risk. The result is always a small loss - that's normal. You're paying a small fee to unlock a free bet worth far more.
①
Find a suitable event
Use the Scanner to find an event with a tight spread between back and lay odds. Aim for back odds 2.0–4.0 - lower odds = smaller qualifying loss.
②
Open the Teamer Calculator → select Cash / Qualifying Free Bet
Enter back odds, lay odds, your stake and commission. The calculator gives you the exact lay stake and shows what you'll lose.
③
Place both bets
Back the selection at your bookmaker. Then immediately lay the same selection on your exchange for the exact lay stake shown. Make sure your exchange account has enough to cover the liability first.
① Find a low-odds event in the Scanner

⚠ A -£0.29 qualifying loss is completely normal
This small loss unlocks a free bet worth many times more. The closer your back and lay odds, the smaller the loss. Note: you need £23.79 available in your exchange account as liability before placing the lay bet.
🎟️ How to use a free bet (SNR)
Step 2 - convert your free bet into locked-in cash profit
SNR = Stake Not Returned. When your free bet wins, the bookmaker pays winnings only - not your original stake back. By laying the same selection on an exchange, you lock in ~75–85% of the free bet value as guaranteed cash regardless of the result.
①
Find a higher-odds event (5.0–8.0)
Higher back odds = more free bet value extracted. The Scanner shows efficiency scores - aim for 75%+.
②
Open the Teamer Calculator → select Free Bet (SNR)
Enter the free bet amount as your stake. The calculator gives you the exact lay stake to lock in profit on both outcomes.
③
Place both bets - profit is locked in
Use the free bet at your bookmaker. Lay the same selection on the exchange. Once both are matched, the result doesn't matter - you profit either way.

Key takeaway
The qualifying losses (-£1.93 total) are the "entry fee" paid to unlock free bets. The free bets returned +£113.40 in locked-in profit. Each result is guaranteed regardless of which team won - the lay bets on the exchange neutralise the outcome risk.
📊 Real results example - a full tournament month
A busier, higher-volume run from the same kind of tracker. Bookie names anonymised.
Scroll through a full month of matched betting and it doesn't look like a highlight reel. It looks like this: back £10 on a draw, lay it off for a guaranteed loss of 96p. Back £5, lay it, -£0.41. Back £20, lay it, -£1.68. Over and over, dozens of times, across more than 30 different bookmakers, from major national names down to smaller independents most people have never signed up with.
Each qualifying bet is a small, known cost, the price of unlocking a free bet. None of them are exciting, most lose a pound or two by design. The free bets that follow are a different story: some returned nothing, a few accumulator and bet builder free bets missed by one leg and paid out £0, which is the real risk in this game, free money is still a bet, and not every free bet wins. But enough of them landed to matter: a £20 free bet that turned into £61.69. A bet builder free bet worth £85. Another worth £77.30, plus dozens of smaller wins adding up bookmaker by bookmaker, offer by offer.
Bookmakers used
35+
across the month
Sign-up offers
150+
bets placed
Net profit
+£971.43
locked-in cash
Key takeaway
Same mechanics as the example above, just at higher volume: small guaranteed costs on qualifying bets, uneven but positive returns on the free bets, and the Teamer Calculator doing the lay stake maths so every "-96p" outcome is a known number going in, not a surprise coming out.

About FavourIQ
Built by someone who worked inside the industry. Designed to help users better understand betting markets, pricing, and exchange dynamics.
I spent years working as a software engineer in the gambling industry, building the technology behind modern betting products - including in-play betting systems, interactive wagering platforms, and the software infrastructure that delivers live odds and markets to users during sporting events.
My role was on the engineering side. I built the systems and user experiences that consumed odds data, powered betting functionality, and helped deliver the fast-moving products people interact with every day.
Over time, I became increasingly interested in the other side: how ordinary bettors could use data and analytical thinking to make more informed decisions instead of relying on guesswork, hype, or emotion.
FavourIQ started as a personal matched betting and odds analysis tool. It worked well enough that I decided to make it public. FavourIQ is not a bookmaker. We don't accept bets or promise unrealistic profits.
Built by someone who helped engineer the systems - now focused on helping users understand them better.
