How to Convert a Free Bet Into Cash

The conversion process, step by step
Once a free bet lands in your bookmaker account, find a match with high back odds available, generally 3.0 or higher gives a better conversion rate, then enter the free bet amount and those odds into the Teamer Calculator's free bet mode, then place the free bet at the bookmaker and the calculated lay stake on the exchange.
Why higher odds convert better
The percentage of a free bet's value you can realistically convert to cash, commonly referred to as the conversion rate, rises with the odds used, because higher odds reduce the relative cost of exchange commission on the lay side. A free bet laid at odds of 6.0 typically converts at a noticeably higher rate than the same free bet laid at odds of 2.0.
Common mistakes
The most common mistake is laying a free bet at odds that are too low, which shrinks the eventual cash profit relative to the free bet's face value. The second is not double-checking whether the free bet's stake is included in returns before running the calculation, since stake-not-returned and stake-returned free bets need different maths.
Worked example
A £20 free bet laid at odds of around 8.0 converted to £61.69 in one real run, close to an 80% conversion rate, while a bet builder free bet at longer odds converted at £85 against its face value. Both used the same process: find the highest realistic odds available, run the amount and odds through the calculator's free bet mode, then place both sides. The difference in conversion rate between those and a free bet laid at odds of 2.0, which typically converts closer to 70%, comes down entirely to the odds chosen, not luck.

How to Convert a Free Bet Into Cash - FAQ
What does SNR mean on a free bet?
Stake Not Returned: if the free bet wins, you receive the winnings but not the original stake amount back, which is the standard structure for most bookmaker free bet tokens.
What odds should I use to convert a free bet?
Generally, the higher the odds, the better the conversion rate, since exchange commission takes a smaller relative bite. Many matched bettors target odds of 3.0 or higher where realistically available.
Can I convert a free bet without an exchange account?
Not with the standard method described here. Laying requires a betting exchange account, such as Betfair or Smarkets, alongside your bookmaker account.
Does the free bet have to go on the same event as the qualifying bet?
No. The free bet is a separate bet and can be placed on any market that satisfies the offer's terms. In practice it usually goes on a different event, chosen specifically because it offers high odds with an exchange lay price sitting close to the back price.
